The Electronic Exchange return with a pair of brand new tunes, showcasing a more robust and confidently original sound, backed with three hot remixes from two talented young UK producers.

Following the success of last year’s debut EP, inter-european duo The Electronic Exchange have cooked up a pair of new tunes for Second Shift, backed up by outstanding remixes from Manc beatsmith Neko Neko and Brighton-based synth botherer Pause.

Album Sampler:

Concrete Moniker presents the debut album from Manchester-based electronic improviser and producer, Richard Knight. Electronic gamelan explorations, abstracted minimal techno, ambient drones & sub-bass rumblings are all filtered and warped into Knight’s palette. The result is something quite arresting, and totally unique.

The Electronic Exchange and newly-merged improv super-group cottrell/findlay_hunter_rennie had a serious amount of fun, and no-one lost any limbs. Luckily for us, Jacob Russell was on hand to catch some wonderful shots.

Both these groups are either currently recordings or making plans for sessions and releases on Moniker in 2011. It’d be nice to see ‘em hit the road together again, wouldn’t it?

Here are further details about the performers:

Gary Fisher (Manchester)

Gary Fisher Is a Manchester based sound and visual artist who works within a continuous process of experimentation and enquiry focused around investigatory or instinctive responses to sounds, objects, words and images.

The work explores amplification of surfaces, textures and objects, combining found materials and re-appropriating found objects and technologies for use as instruments or noise-makers. The process includes, sound recording, collecting, archiving, drawing, construction, photography, and text. It generates many outcomes including live performance, sound installation, CD or tape recordings, graphic scores. Sometimes the line between research and outcome is not clear and often they are the same. Objects, images, sound recordings and live performances may be seen as individual pieces in their own right as well as parts of a bigger ‘work in progress’ that is the process itself.

http://gary-fisher.co.uk/

Noise Club (Liverpool)

Formed in 2003 by three guys who met at a kung fu club, Noise Club is Liverpool’s longest-running and most experimental noise group. Since then the group’s membership and activities have expanded, and there are now Noise Club members across the country.

Straddling the divide between stage performance and interactive intervention, the group creates dynamic soundscapes using homemade electronics, specially-constructed sonic sculptures, found objects, toys, plants, and even smells. Noise Club have played in a variety of unusual locations, from underground tunnels and public baths to shopping centres and public gardens, as well as more conventional stage performances. There is always a highly visual and dramatic element to the group’s performances, with an emphasis on interactivity, creating a total sensory experience.

http://www.myspace.com/noi seclub1
Electronic Organica Ensemble

Another chance grouping from your hosts and curators featuring members of Pesticide Organica, Fonik, Noise Research etc etc. They’ll kick off the evening with a set of improvised sonic destruction.

With the Levenshulme Bicycle Orchestra Auto Collapsible tour over, some of you may be wondering where you can still get a taste of the bicycle wielding gents. Well, we don’t like to disappoint, and we’re glad to point you in the direction of Zeke Clough’s solo exhibition which runs from 16th July to 24th September. Solo means unadulterated blistering comic-esque viscous drawings, paintings and illustrations.

Zeke’s also got another solo show at Kunstwerg in Mainz, follow the link to see some info and pictures, and more pictures and info here

Read here for more info on the Salford Start exhibition.
There is a map here.

It’s extremely easy to reach, just jump on the train from Piccadilly or Oxford Road to Salford Crescent and walk up the street towards the Uni along Broad Street and you can’t miss it.
