The Electronic Exchange

The Electronic Exchange are Najia Bagi and Tullis Rennie. Following a one-off impromptu performance together in Barcelona in 2009, they began writing and recording “together” entirely via the web, each working from their respective homes in Manchester and Barcelona.

Their music is a melting pot of shared influences, both musical and from their respective cities. Rennie’s trademark abstract electronica remains, but his productions move into new areas to include heavy, off-kilter rhythms. Dark and eerie electronic soundscapes combine with homespun “toolshed-dub” beats. Yes we just said that. Najia’s soulful and uplifting vocal melodies are bittersweet – her lyrics telling spooky urban murder-ballads.

For Concrete Moniker co-founder Tullis Rennie The Electronic Exchange is his first release on the label in over a year, following last year’s well-received solo effort BCN_ep, and a previous album with findlay_hunter_rennie.

Najia Bagi can be found as vocalist with Manchester favourites To Sophia as well as working on her own solo musical projects, video, photography and on a new collaboration with guitarist Paul Balcolmbe – The Ground.
